COMMITMENT TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES

The North Alton-Godfrey Business Council is devoted to promoting activities and projects which directly benefit its members and local communities. NAGBC provides opportunities for community service as a group and individually and a means of giving back as a caring organization through fundraising events that support local charities, community, emergency, or catastrophic events.

The North Alton-Godfrey Business Council is pleased to have financially supported and completed the following projects:

Benjamin Godfrey Legacy Trail

Benjamin Godfrey, who helped plat present-day Godfrey, IL in the early 1800s and left his mark throughout the Alton and Godfrey communities, is now honored with the Benjamin Godfrey Legacy Trail. The Benjamin Godfrey Legacy trail highlights Godfrey’s impact on the two cities with nine different historical site markers.

  • Site 2: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
  • Site 3: Hayner Genealogy & Local History Library
  • Site 4: Alton & Sangamon Railroad
  • Site 5: Plank Road
  • Site 6: Monticello College
  • Site 7: Benjamin Godfrey Memorial Chapel
  • Site 8: Godfrey Cemetery
  • Site 9: Godfrey Mansion

Hoffman Gardens, located at 2102 McAdams Parkway, on Route 100 in Godfrey, IL, was built in honor of the first Mayor of Godfrey and his family.
